An allergic reaction is an overreaction of the body to a nonexistent threat.
Especially in industrialized countries like Germany, allergies are on the rise, which is due by many researchers to a general underuse of the immune system of people living mainly in the big cities. Also, the excessive use of antibiotics to treat benign diseases in childhood sometimes is cited as co-founder of the increasing number of people who suffer from allergies.
